Am I getting new stone countertops? What is lab stone?

Lab stone is a combination of proprietary elements and certified techniques that mimic real stone. We use actual stone particles and professional resin agents to create our lab-generated stone looks — as hard as natural stone at a fraction of the cost.

What countertop materials can you resurface over?

Virtually anything. Laminate, quartz, tile, granite, marble, Corian, butcher block, concrete, Formica — if you have a countertop, we can resurface over it. No demolition required.

Do you need to remove existing countertops?

No — our lab stone bonds directly over your existing surface with zero demolition. However, plumbing and sinks must be disconnected before we begin. We are not licensed to handle plumbing, so pipes and sinks need to be removed prior to installation. If you prefer we work around them, a liability waiver is required — once the lab stone is installed, the sink cannot be removed unless it is cut out.

How long does the installation take?

Standard installs take 8-12 hours. If you choose a diamond coating or matte finish upgrade, the process takes 24 hours.

Are your installers certified?

Yes. All in-home installers are trained and certified by Build-A-Counter. Only installers with our designated seal and booked through our official site perform true Build-A-Counter lab stone installations.

Do you serve areas outside Arizona?

We're currently based in Arizona serving the Phoenix metro area and statewide. National expansion through our franchise model is underway.
